British Red Cross
The Red Cross is the world’s largest volunteer-led relief organisation. This mailing focused on their lesser-known work in the UK, including helping people in the UK who have lost their home due to fire or flooding.
Using the headline, “Where there’s a crisis close to home, who’s there to help?”, the mailing told the story of 76-year-old Joyce, who was struggling to cope on her own at home after a lengthy spell in hospital.
Energetic and sociable by nature, Joyce feared the loss of independence more than anything. Fortunately, the British Red Cross was on hand to help. One of their trained volunteers visited Joyce regularly, bringing shopping and staying for a chat, helping to cook meals or accompanying Joyce on short walks to get her confidence back.
